2019/2020 photo 2: December 2019

Part I

Quality of Your Work:
This year, the assignments i had were a lot more challenging and 'strict' than last year. I had to put a lot more thought into these assignments. Some of them turned out really well, while others looked like i had struggled. We had to use photoshop a lot more for the assignments. My actual images were good, but i feel like i could have done better. Some pictures were high quality, while others were definitely not. As for fulfilling the assignment, I kind of did the bare minimum for a few of my projects. Not all of them were as creative as i'd like them to be. I feel like i payed attention to the objectives of the assignments but, again, they were kind of 'sloppy' at times. All of my assignments were in the proper format (final product, index print, etc). There were some assignments that i didn't complete on time. This is because i either put them off until the last minute (when it was actually too late) or i had work until late at night. (not trying to make excuses for this sorry lmao). I then realized that i literally can't do that or else i'll fail with just one missing assignment. I don't think i used a lot of my first ideas mainly because they were terrible, boring, unimpressive, etc. It always took me a little bit of thought to create my photos.

Effort:
I wasn't always actively taking photos. Like i said, I would put my assignments off until the last minute. I tried not to look for the most convenient subjects, locations, etc because even i would become bored with it. I hate to admit it, but i never really shoot more than whats required. When i am faced with a really difficult photographic idea, i choose to avoid them merely because i don't want my final product to look (literally) trashed or like i tried too hard on it. If a shot i want is a little hard, I don't stop until i'm satisfied with my pictures. Most of the time, I don't take a lot of risks because i'm scared my final picture will look terrible. When looking at other students' work, I think with an open mind. I try to be very accepting with everyone, especially with other's feedback. A lot of the time, i think my own photography is terrible. I think that its boring, and not even worth a glance.

Participation:
I'm almost always on time to class. I say almost because sometimes i have to stop and pee lol sorry klein. Throughout the block, i won't always be on task because i finish my assignments either too quickly or i have yet to take photos to work on. So because of that, I'll find myself getting lost in my phone or talking to my friends. The work we have is really independent so i try not to rely on others for ideas. But when it comes to photoshop, I forget how to work that system so i need a little help lol. Once again, i'm not always on task because i don't always have something photography-related to work on.

Improvement:
I feel like i don't really have my own style of photography yet. I mean, yeah, some of my photos are creative, but i feel like others have most definitely had the same idea and/or taken the same photos i have. Compared t last year, i'm a little better with handling photoshop, but i still need help from time to time. My images, i would say, aren't SUPER compelling. I would also say i'm just as confident as i was last year. (so not really confident at all). The concepts are a little stronger compared to last year because now i know what klein REALLY expects from us.

Adjustment:
In the 2nd semester, I'm going to try really hard to stay on task and finish my assignments on time I'm going to try to always have something photography-related to work with during class so i stay on task. I'm also going to try and put more effort into my assignments because i can be lazy sometimes.

Part II

Suggest an Assignment:
It's hard to suggest an idea that hasn't already been shared. I like the idea of displaying emotions in photography though, as well as telling a story without words.
